The Art of Being Kind
You’d think it's something so simple. Being kind. It's one of the very important lessons that we learn almost immediately in life, however, as time goes by, it appears that many people have abandoned the lesson they have learned in the 'art of being kind’.
Every day we see the exact opposite of kindness coming in many different ways, shapes, and forms. Gossiping, indirect/sub-tweeting and rumors are just a few things breeding the lack of kindness in society today, which for some reason is a main part of our generations everyday lives.
I for one believe this should stop. We are constantly generating hatred and bad vibes, and personally, I’m sick of seeing this negativity and unkindness so often. So, on a much brighter note, I’ve put together a few reasons that I think are good ways to help push the abolishment of the mean attitudes of today’s society and begin again with a more positive outlook.
Time to get a bit scienc-y (I’ve just remembered the word is scientific, but anyways..). Did you know that it has been proven that being kind genuinely makes you happier? Its because of chemical reactions and stuff but, don’t worry, I wont bore you with the details – I think you get my point.
Being kind is also good for you, in the sense of biological health. There was a study recently that showed that there might be some connection with positive thoughts of kindness and some kind of nerve in the body, cool right?
This one may come as a real shock but, those who exhibit kindness, are generally liked more than those who do the opposite. Interesting stuff.
To finish off, for those who are really stuck, some ways to introduce the new, kind attitude are…
Help those in need of it (whether it be your mum, sibling, friend or complete stranger)
Don’t hold grudges, say sorry (and mean it)
Listen, sometimes, all people may need is someone to be there for them
Stop judging people, worry about you and only you, everything else can do their own thing
Remember ‘blowing out someone else’s candle, won’t make yours shine any brighter’
Overall, I think it's important to remember that the best you always comes from within. Being kind is one of the most attractive qualities a person can have, so - embrace the kindness people.
